Born and raised as the eldest daughter (or at least that's what she thought) of Tardill and Thyra, holders of a runnerhold on the plains of Keroon, Thesy had a happy childhood. Once she was old enough to understand what was wanted from her, she helped her mother in hold matters. When her father found out that she not only had a deep love and understanding for animals but also the ability for healing them, she was released from her duties in the hold and put to work with the precious beasts her father bred, performing everyday care as well as tending the hurt or sick. Then came the day when she and her parents were conveyed to a Hatching at Igen Weyr by S'gren, brown Kirtith's rider and one of her father's younger brothers, because one of the hold boys had been Searched and was standing on the Hatching ground as a candidate (well, he didn't Impress but lived happily ever after as a cook in the Weyr). Thesy's heart went out to the huge yet so gentle beasts and not even the cold and deadly scaring nothingness of ::between:: could change her determination to spend her life near dragons. So when a short time ago she was sent to Hesdril, another uncle and the runnerhandler at High Reaches Hold, to help him with one of his Lord Holder's priceless beasts, she decided that on her way back home she would try to find a place at High Reaches Weyr. Which, in fact, she did. To her utter delight Aslyn, the friendly headwoman, not only welcomed her warmly but also listened to her and finally made her a member of the weyrfolk. Soon after her arrival she met Catia, the Weyr's dragonhealer, and after telling her about her work with the runners back home, Catia decided to make Thesy her assistant in the Infirmary. But as things turned out, her being accepted at High Reaches was not the last of happy events for her. Only one day after her arrival, a strange woman approached her, obviously a visitor to the Weyr. Over endless mugs of klah and a lot of talk they found out that Beryl, a dockhand at SeaCliffs Hold at that time, actually is her half sister, who had been fostered as a babe and now roamed the Northern continent to find her sisters and brothers, fostered as she once had been. But the 'Reaches spell caught her too and now Beryl is the Assistant Headwoman at the Weyr, more busy than ever but also more happy. Since then her life seems to have turned upside down, things happening fast for her. First that day when a grumpy Ophelia with a hangover accuses her of theft and orders her to Stand for Rhyath's, the junior queen's, clutch. The weeks of Candidacy passed in a whirl only to culminate in that one, that special day - Hatching Day. Then she stood on the Sands, bereft of words, confused until that very moment when a delicate little blue, bathed in starlight dragonet raised to his wobbling height in front of her and she was completely and utterly lost in the rainbow eyes of Sardrinth! Weyrlinghood came and went, seeing Thesy working like a drudge for the first time in her life and was passed without any outstanding events until the day when the weyrling wing flew its first Fall and one well-liked pair, Emmy and her Oscareth, went into ::between:: never to reappear again. It took all of them a long time to recover from that shock and loss. However, Graduation Day was a proud and splendid affair and now, being a fully-fledged wingrider and a proud member of the Zephyr Wing, Thesy spends her days like all the others, flying sweeps, conveying people and studying hard with Catia to become a Dragonhealer. And it seems that firelizards pop into her life at every crucial point - blue Nocturno when she was Searched, green Vedra right before her first flight with 'Drinth and gold Imperia shortly after her promotion to senior Weyrling. Though the latest arrival, sweet little pot-bellied brown Tiramisu, didn't need a special occasion to join her fair, when his egg came flying through the Living Caverns. It could be a good life, the best, the life she always wanted, if it weren't for one thing: Since the day she became a member of the Weyr she hasn't heard from her family. No letter, no messages, nothing. This gives her a great amount of grief and every time someone talks about his or her family a shadow can be seen crossing her face. Will she ever talk about it to someone? |
